Carole Lombard: Married to Clark Gable, she was only nominated for "My Man Godrey".
Kirk Douglas: Three nominations, "Champion" (49), "The Bad And The Beautiful" (52) and "Lust For Life" (56). Kirk's son Michael Douglas won a best actor Oscar in 1987 for "Wall Street".
Barbara Stanwyck: Possibly the biggest female star to never win. Nominations include "Stella Dallas" (38) and "Double Indemnity" (45).
Judy Garland: Nominated as best actress for "A Star Is Born" (55) and as best supporting actress for "Judgement At Nuremberg" (62). Her daughter Liza Minnelli won a best actress Oscar for "Cabaret" (72).
Richard Burton: Married to Elizabeth Taylor twice. Nominations include "The Robe" (53) and "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" (66).
Marlene Dietrich: Nominated only once for "Morocco" (30). Couldn't speak english at the time she made the movie.
Peter O'Toole: Set the record for the most nominations without a win with 8.
