Famous Left-Handed Musicians

Paul McCartney: Bass guitarist and songwriter from The Beatles. His  Hofner bass is one of the most famous instruments in rock history.

Ringo Star: Drummer for The Beatles. Is left-handed but plays a right handed drum kit.

Dick Dale: King of the surf guitars, plays left-handed with the strings backward.


Jimi Hendrix: The most famous left-handed guitarist. Died in 1970.

Tony Iommi: Guitarist from Black Sabbath.

Phil Collins: Drummer for Genesis and solo superstar.

Iggy Pop: One time front man for The Stooges, later successful solo artist.

Bun E. Carlos: Drummer from the band Cheap Trick. Plays both left and right.

Elliot Easton: Guitarist from The Cars.

Kurt Cobain: Lead singer, Guitarist and main songwriter of the Seattle grunge rock band Nirvana. Died in 1994.

Ten Must See Steve McQueen Films

1. Bullitt (1968): McQueen plays San Francisco cop Frank Bullitt. This film contains one of the most famous car chases in film history.

2. The Great Escape (1963): World war II allied prisoners attempt to escape from a German P.O.W. camp. McQueen steals the movie as the "Cooler King".

3. The Magnificent Seven (1960): Seven gunslingers band together to protect a Mexican village against bandits. Also stars Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson and James Coburn. McQueen didn't return for the sequel.

4. The Getaway (1972): Husband and wife robbers on the run. McQueen stars with real life wife Ali MacGraw. In 1994 real life husband and wife Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger re-made this film.

5. Papillon (1973):  French prisoners try to escape from Devil's island. Co-Stars Dustin Hoffman.

6. The Thomas Crown Affair (1968): McQueen plays the title character, a millionaire playboy turned thief.

7.  The Cincinnati Kid (1965): A young card shark (McQueen) in a poker showdown with old pro (Edward G. Robinson). Ann-Margret and Tuesday Weld co-star.

8. The Towering Inferno (1974): Classic 1970's disaster film. All-star cast includes Paul Newman as the guy who built the tower and McQueen as the fire chief who has to put it out.

9. Nevada Smith (1966):  A western about a half-breed who avenges his parents murder. The story is a excerpt from Harold Robbins novel "The Carpetbaggers".

10. Love With The Proper Stranger (1963) Drama about an unexpected pregnancy. Co-stars Natalie Wood.

2. Platoon (1986): Charlie proves he can act in this best picture Oscar winner. Also an early film appearance by Johnny Depp.

3. Wall Street (1987): Tom Cruise wanted to play Bud Fox in this movie, instead the part went to Charlie Sheen and the rest is history.

4. Being John Malkovich (1999): A scene stealing bit part, but one where he plays a parody of himself. This begins a new era in his career that eventually leads to playing Charlie Harper in the hit TV series "Two And A Half Men".

5. Eight Men Out (1988) An ensemble cast that also features John Cusack, David Strathairn and D.B. Sweeney.

Tribute To Bruce Lee

Birth Name: Lee Jun Fan

Created a form of martial arts called Jeet Kune Do.

Taught such celebrities as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Lee Marvin.

Father of actor Brandon Lee.

Brandon was accidentally shot and killed on the set of "The Crow" 1993.

Bruce's maternal grandfather was German.

Helped Popularised the use of vitamin supplements.

Died July 20, 1973 in Hong Kong. Buried in Seattle Washington.

Steve McQueen, James Coburn, Chuck Norris and George Lazenby (James Bond) were pallbearers at his funeral.

Born Constance Francis Marie Ockleman in Brooklyn, New York.

Famous for her "peek-a-boo" hair style.

Veronica (4'-11") made seven films with Alan Ladd (5'-6"): This Gun For Hire (42), The Glass Key (42), Star Spangled Rhythm (42), Duffy's Tavern (45), The Blue Dahlia (46), Variety Girl (47), Saigon (48).

Other popular films she starred in: I Wanted Wings (41), Hold Back The Dawn (41),  Sullivan's Travels (41), I Married A Witch (42), So Proudly We Hail (43).

Veronica was the inspiration for the Jessica Rabbit character from the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" (88).

Kim Basinger won an Academy Award for playing a prostitute who looked like Veronica Lake (L.A. Confidential 1997).

Took flying lessons and became a licensed pilot.

Famous quote: "I wasn't a sex symbol, I was a sex zombie."

Reportedly a paranoid schizophrenic.

After her career went into decline she was discovered working as a barmaid in a Manhattan hotel.
